Welcome to the Portsmouth Secondary School. The School's authority is genuinely interested in your education, growth and development. If you are to attain intellectual, social and moral growth and development to your fullest capacity, there must be an atmosphere that will not distract from but foster growth and learning.

We look forward to working with you in ensuring that your son/daughter maintains the highest standard of academic performance and behavior during the period that he or she is with us.

To promote the welfare of everyone at the school, discipline is necessary. The rules of conduct are meant to be a guide to personal development and an aid to the smooth running of the school.

School Song - "Forward On"

Written by A. Thomas & Judith Garraway (Staff)

Students working hand in hand
Together build our Fatherland
Making use of time
Forward on, Forward on!

Moving to a common cause
Labour, progress, victory
Winning great rewards
Forward on, Forward on!

We will grow from strength to strength
Reaping goals which knows no length
Unity is King
Forward on, Forward on!

Coming from diverse districts
Ours it is the same conflict
Fighting for the best
Forward on PSS!

Our Mission

Our Philosophy

At Portsmouth Secondary School (PSS), all students and staff are valued individuals/learners with specific needs. We believe that recognizing diversity and equity are essential for sound development and success.

We believe that positive school relationships based on mutual respect can enhance students' self-esteem.

We believe in encouraging our students to develop personal responsibility, promote self-discipline, self-worth, effort, respect, curiosity, and to strive towards excellence in all aspects of life.

We believe in developing transferable skills and knowledge, promoting practice that will sustain life-long learning in a caring, safe, and stimulating environment.

We believe that through proactive and collaborative leadership, PSS can continuously improve for the benefit of those we are to serve.

We believe that staff should be the medium through which students are able to develop and learn academic skills that will enable them to become good citizens.
